Understanding & Accessing HBDI® Digital

HBDI® Digital is the in-platform version of a Thinker's HBDI® results, available to Thinkers and Certified Practitioners (CPs). It contains all of the information about a Thinker's profile that they receive through their CP-led HBDI® Assessment debrief, or through their self-paced learning journey modules.

Thinker Access to HBDI® Digital

HBDI® Digital is made available to a Thinker in their Thinker Portal. homepage, under the My HBDI® Results tile. (Please note that this is an online platform, therefore an internet connection is required to access).

A Thinker can view their HBDI® Digital results in My HBDI® Results after they have taken their HBDI® Assessment, and completed one of the following steps:

  1. Completed the self-paced learning journey under My Journey on the Thinker Portal homepage, which then unlocks access to HBDI® Digital.
  2. Participated in their HBDI® Assessment results debrief, led by a Certified Practitioner (CP). CPs will give Thinkers a code to unlock their HBDI® results, and the HBDI® Digital feature. This code will be input into the code unlock page in the "Welcome" module of My Journey.
  3. Received their code to unlock their HBDI® Results ahead of their debrief session, because the CP will use HBDI® Digital to conduct the session.

Certified Practitioner Access to HBDI® Digital

Like all Thinkers, Certified Practitioners (CP) have access to their own HBDI® Digital through the Thinker Portal.  However, they can access a specific Thinker's HBDI® Digital through Axon.

  1. At the tool bar on top of the homepage, select Search For > Assessments.
  2. Use the Search Filters tile to search for a Thinker.
  3. Once the Thinker's row appears on the page, select the View Profile button.
  4. On the Thinker's Profile page, click on the HBDI® Digital icon
  5. This redirect's the CP to the Thinker's HBDI® Digital within Axon.

CPs can use HBDI® Digital in conjunction with the existing paper-based HBDI® reports available in Axon, or on it's own.

Additionally, CPs can choose when they would like to give their Thinkers access to their HBDI® Digital, if their Thinkers are not going through the self-paced learning journey. Here are two of the unlock options available to CPs:

  1. Provide their Thinkers the unlock code that was configured when creating the invitation, during the debrief session or after.
  2. Unlock an individual Thinker's profile in Axon, by following Search For > Assessments > View Profile, right before the debrief session, or at any time after the Thinker completes their HBDI® Assessment. (This cannot be be performed for multiple thinkers at once).

Facilitating a debrief session with HBDI® Digital

The basic information contained in HBDI® Digital is the same as the paper-based reports, and therefore adaptable to the debrief session style of the CP.

However, CPs must keep in mind that HBDI® Digital is in-platform, and therefore only available online with an internet connection, putting the feature at risk for technology challenges.

If a CP plans to have Thinkers use HBDI® Digital in the debrief session, it is critical that they understand how to access HBDI® Digital and guide their Thinkers on how to access before the debrief session begins, so that any technology challenges can be addressed.

Here are some additional tips and watch-outs for CPs who use HBDI® Digital during the debrief session:

  • When showing Thinkers how to access HBDI® Digital, display a device (mobile or laptop/desktop) in front of the group, and walk through accessing in real-time, so that Thinkers can follow along.
  • Slow down the verbal delivery of the debrief session, as the Thinkers will have the HBDI® Digital information in front of them and will be reading and listening simultaneously.
  • Be aware of less eye contact as Thinkers may be looking down at their device screens during the debrief session.
  • Because HBDI® Digital is on the Thinker Portal, all Thinker Portal features will be available to Thinkers during the session, and could cause multi-tasking distractions

HBDI® Digital Use Cases

  •  For HBDI® Assessment debrief sessions where the use of digital tools are preferred, over paper reports.
  • For virtual teams who are engaging in a virtual debrief session.
  • For CPs who want to conduct a one-on-one coaching session, and want the Thinker's assessment results readily available.
  • For Thinkers who want a seamless way to review their assessment results, in-platform.
